The raw and moving story of a child’s progress through therapy, amidst the everyday bustle of a mainstream Primary School.
Does therapy always have to take place in the consulting room? In this talk, Domini will explore how a therapeutic atmosphere can be created so that therapy can be taken to the ‘hard to reach’ client. Her case study will show how a turbulent child can be emotionally held and contained, especially when the process accelerates in unexpected ways.
Domini Barry trained in dramatherapy at the University of Hertfordshire, and for the past 20 years has worked in schools and in private practice. As well as working with children and adolescents, she runs therapy groups for mothers with postnatal depression. Domini offers supervision and training workshops in arts-based psychotherapy and her work has been published in the ‘Journal of Dramatherapy’.
