Introducing ‘Internal Family Systems Therapy’ - Dialoguing with sub-personalities to heal the childhood wounds.

  • Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institute (BRLSI) 16-18 Queen Square Bath, England, BA1 2HN United Kingdom (map)

Matthew Harwood

Jungian Analyst & Psychotherapist

This lecture (illustrated by video extracts showing live case material) introduces Internal Family Systems (IFS) - a radical new style of therapy recently endorsed by world-famous trauma expert Bessell van der Kolk in ‘The Body Keeps the Score.’ The key word is ‘internal’ – facilitating live dialogues between the client and the members of his/her inner psychological family... and thereby finding the way to healing the traumatised ‘exiles’ (ie the wounded ‘inner child’ parts) which underlie the client’s issues.

(Owing to the video material, this lecture will be longer than usual, consisting of two presentations of 45 mins with a 20mins break for refreshments in the middle.)

Matthew Harwood (www.matthewharwood.co.uk) has a private practice in the Bath & Bristol area. He trained at the CG Jung Institute, Zürich.  He is a senior (training) analyst with the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists (IGAP). He is also trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Pesso Boyden Psychotherapy and has lectured widely both in the UK and overseas.
